Dear Newsletter Readers,
Welcome to another edition of our weekly newsletter and I hope you find something in it that is of interest to you.
My poem this week is about the value of taking time out once in a while to connect with ourselves, check in with who we are, where we are in our lives and what more we hope to achieve before we get to the point where we are no longer physically or mentally able to function. We all know that work and like balance is very important for maintaining physical and mental wellbeing, but unfortunately for a plethora of different reasons achieving such a balance it is not so easy for most of us to do. Some of us do yoga or we meditate to try to connect with our inner selves or get in touch with our souls and some of us attempt to make that connection in other ways. In my case, I generally go for long walks by myself in search of places where I can be alone with my own thoughts, very often getting lost in them which occasionally brings to mind one or two good lines of verse that get dropped into some of the poems that I (try to) write.
Thank you for reading my poem and until next week, have yourselves a very good weekend and keep safe.
A day out
We all need a day out now and again.
It helps to prevent our sanity from trickling away down the drain.
In other words, it helps to keep us sane.
Whether it’s time given to ourselves or shared with others.
We owe it to each and every one of us to be true to the lives given to us by our mothers.
A drive in the car, a hike into the countryside or a stroll around the park.
Searching for the right space in which we can take stock of our thoughts.
Connecting with our inner selves does not best lend itself to lying on a bed behind a closed door
Sitting under an old tree in a field and other such environments are much better sought.
Negative thoughts are absorbed by the still calmness of the day and a warm gentle wind washes them away.
